This timeless truth is at the core of numerous Medical Institutions established by Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. He emphasized for decades that medical care is in its most sanctified form only when it is driven by LOVE and is free from the shackles of economics.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba led the way and established global models of tertiary hospitals providing TOTALLY FREE OF COST healthcare services to millions for over two decades.
The first of the “Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals” has been established and operational in Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh since 22nd November 2012. It was completed from concept to commencement of cardiac services in under nine months and is today an acknowledged Institution of Service. The Hospital is a Public Service Institution, set up as an expression of gratitude to our Divine Guide, to Revered Sri Sathya Sai Baba, who tirelessly worked to alleviate the suffering of millions, the world over and brought them joy and peace.
Inspired by Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s principles, Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani is committed to contributing to a Healthy India by addressing the national burden of congenital heart diseases. Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is a leading life threatening disease affecting the country's young. Over 2,00,000 children, or almost one out of every 10 births, are born with the disease every year contributing to an alarmingly high Infant Mortality in India. Given the enormity of the problem, ironically very few institutions provide affordable pediatric cardiac surgery services and even the existing ones are inequitably spread across the country.
Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital has touched little hearts from across 17 states and 4 countries. Every heart operated upon is a “Gift of Life” by Bhagwan Sai Baba to children. The Child Heart Care unit in Sai Sanjeevani entails and offers non-invasive diagnostic cardiology services and surgical treatment of congenital heart diseases. It handles the entire repertoire of pediatric cardiac surgical procedures from closure of simple defects to management of very complex lesions.
Divine Child Health Program (DCHP), a rural child health screening and early intervention program was launched by the Hospital in July 2013. The program has been implemented based on the guidelines of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram initiative of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The program aims to contribute to the health of children through timely detection, prevention, education and medical management. Under this program, 3275 rural school children in the age group of 6-16 years and 301 Anganwadi children in the age group of 0-6 years have been holistically screened so far.
